The Department for Education (DfE) has announced the appointment of Bouygues UK as the main contractor for the multi-million-pound redevelopment of Rosedale College in the London Borough of Hillingdon.

Part of the DfE’s national School Rebuilding Programme, the project will replace the school’s 1960s buildings with modern facilities, including new teaching and performing arts blocks. The existing Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) building will be fully refurbished, alongside upgrades to sports fields and multi-use games areas. Temporary classrooms will be removed to restore open space on the campus.

The design team also includes Stride Treglown and NVB Landscape. The scheme aims to deliver a “vibrant and progressive learning environment”, according to Bouygues UK.

A key element of the redevelopment will be achieving net zero carbon in operation, reflecting the DfE’s wider sustainability goals. Bouygues UK will also deliver social value initiatives through its ‘Adopt a School’ partnership with education charity Class of Your Own. The programme supports the Design Engineer Construct! (DEC) curriculum, which introduces students to careers in the built environment.

Stewart Duguid, chair of Rosedale Hewens Academy Trust, said: “Bouygues UK has demonstrated a deep understanding of our vision and values, and we are confident they will deliver a campus that truly reflects the aspirations of our college community.”

Construction work is scheduled for completion in autumn 2028.
