Sarah Kilpatrick has been elected as deputy general secretary of the National Education Union (NEU).
The election for deputy general secretary of the National Education Union closed yesterday (30 September) at noon, with Kilpatrick receiving 88% of votes.

Daniel Kebede, general secretary of the NEU, said: “Sarah and I were young teachers together in the north east and have known each other for over a decade. I am more than confident she has the skills and experience to equip her to deliver on our shared agenda for members.
“Sarah is fully committed to working with me to ensure our union goes from strength to strength at this vital time. Sarah has long demonstrated she is passionate about campaigning for the world class education system our children deserve.”
He added: “We offer our commiserations to Kacey De Groot. We thank her for her contribution to the national executive.”
