Andy Barnett has been appointed the new CEO of Delta Academies Trust, as the group also announced the addition of six new academies to the trust.
Barnett was previously Delta’s associate chief executive, and will now succeed Sir Paul Tarn in the role, who earlier this year announced his decision to step down at the end of the 2024-25 academic year.
Steve Hodsman, chair of Trustees at Delta Academies Trust, said: “Andy was identified during the appointment process as the outstanding candidate to lead our trust. He has done a superb job at Delta for many years and is the perfect person to build on what has been achieved since 2016. We wish him every success and know he will do a great job.”
Andy Barnett, CEO of Delta Academies Trust, added: “It is a privilege to lead such a special organisation. Over the last 10 years, under Sir Paul’s leadership and thanks to a remarkable team effort across our whole organisation, Delta has established itself as a trust that is academically strong and financially secure.
“I am looking forward to building on what has been achieved to date and continuing to give children and young people the education they deserve to lead successful lives.”
The move comes as Delta Academies Trust announced that six schools, formerly part of Coast and Vale Learning Trust, transferred to Delta on 1 September.
The newly joined academies are:
- Filey Academy
- Lady Lumley’s Academy
- Scarborough UTC
- Newby & Scalby Primary Academy
- Friarage Community Academy
- Scalby Academy
The trust said the growth “represents an important milestone for Delta, strengthening our provision and enabling us to support even more young people with high-quality education and opportunities to thrive”.
