Brent Council has announced that Malorees Infant and Malorees Junior schools are to merge into a single primary to allow for a full rebuild under a government programme.
News comes as the council’s cabinet approved plans on Monday (28 July).
The schools, which are currently federated, will become Malorees Primary School from April 2026.
According to the council, this will make the school eligible for the Department for Education’s school rebuilding programme. Work is expected to begin in September 2026 and finish by December 2027.
Council officers said the rebuild would provide a more efficient and modern learning environment.
Meanwhile, the governing board has pledged that no jobs will be cut when the schools amalgamate.
Cllr Gwen Grahl, cabinet member for children and young people at Brent Council, said: “We were pleased to approve the school’s amalgamation proposal, which will help bring about crucial investment in the school. DfE funding will enable Malorees to be fully rebuilt, providing pupils with modern facilities that support their learning.
“I recognise how much the community values Malorees, and know the school will continue to go from strength to strength.”
