Leigh Academies Trust has revealed that Leigh Academy Milestone has been rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted for the fourth consecutive time.

The latest inspection, carried out on 3 and 4 June 2025, praised the Swanley-based school for the “highest quality” of education and its “transformative” impact on pupils.

Inspectors said: “Pupils’ education is of the highest quality at this transformative school. Staff have consistently high aspirations for pupils and ensure that they meet them.”

Principal Sarah Goosani said the judgement was a “reflection of staff dedication and care”.

She said: “Staff understand each pupil deeply and work tirelessly to remove barriers and build independence. I’m incredibly proud that their efforts have been recognised at the highest level for the fourth time.

“Our community is united by a shared purpose which is to give every pupil the best possible education and this outcome confirms that we are doing exactly that.”

The report found pupils made “exceptional” progress against their education, health and care plan (EHCP) targets, supported by “skilled and knowledgeable staff”.

Relationships across the school were also described as “warm and caring”. Inspectors noted: “Pupils have trusted adults that they know will manage any concerns they have… They feel happy and safe in school.”

Reading was identified as a core focus, introduced in early years and supported through tailored phonics programmes.

The sixth form was also singled out for praise: “Students in the sixth form benefit strongly from the excellent opportunities they enjoy… These experiences help students to thrive in their next steps,” inspectors said.

Simon Beamish, chief executive of Leigh Academies Trust, added: “The Ofsted team recognised what we see daily at Milestone: the exceptional efforts of a staff team who know their pupils deeply and give everything to help them succeed.

“Milestone’s sustained excellence is the result of relentless care, expertise and ambition for every learner.”

Inspectors also highlighted the school’s “outstanding” approach to personal development, with pupils supported to grow in confidence, resilience and maturity. Safeguarding was judged to be effective and “well embedded”.
