The Compass Partnership of Schools has proposed a merger with Eko Trust in a move that would create a 25-school trust. The trust said that partnering with another “high-performing” academy trust would benefit over 9,000 pupils.
Compass said it is proposing to join forces with Eko Trust so that “our schools are best placed to provide an even higher quality of education to their pupils”.
The new trust, if approved, will run 25 schools, including 23 primary schools and two special schools in London, Essex, Suffolk and Brighton, and will serve more than 9,100 pupils.
The new organisation, to be called The Compass Eko Partnership of Schools, will also “create new opportunities for staff, which will mean schools can continue to develop their quality of education and care”.
At the same time, each school will continue to “retain the elements that make them unique”.
The proposal to merge is subject to approval by both boards of trustees and the subsequent approval by the Department for Education.
The merger could then take place in early 2026. The new organisation will be led collaboratively by John Camp OBE and Rebekah Iiyambo, the CEOs of Compass and Eko respectively.
